Many of the mineral supplements seen today are made using chemicals in place of natural substances which is a very contrary approach to the issue. This however, does not seem to have deterred many people from taking a lot of them. The debate however, is ongoing as people wonder whether putting chemicals into one’s body is good or bad.

The fact of the matter is that these chemical supplements are not as easy for our body to digest as natural ones. More and more research is going into creating products that are friendlier to the body and hence more beneficial. Every once in a while, the industry comes up with a form of a mineral or vitamin that is considered to be more bio-available. In order to overcome this, there have been large quantities of vitamins and minerals that have been developed which includes other elements which give them the ability to be easily absorbed by the body. The amount of a nutrient in a mineral vitamin supplement needs to be far greater than it would be in a more natural form for the body to be able to absorb the amount that is required. When the nutrients are consumed more than the needed quantity, it will increase the toxic levels in the body leading to other complications. For this reason it is better to take professional advice form health professionals instead of blindly following TV advertisements and having too many supplements. It is also worth being aware of the developments in the mineral vitamin supplement industry as there are constantly new and better combinations being developed.

One way that could facilitate better absorption is by using yeast to culture the raw materials that are used. This kind of supplements, referred to as ‘food state’, is four times easier to be absorbed by the body as the yeast is biological and can be fully digested.

A lot of what we need as supplements has got to do with the kind of diet we follow. It goes without saying that nutrients obtained in their natural form through the food eaten is much better for the body than by artificial means. Long term use of chemical supplements is not generally recommended – however, your health condition may require you to take these supplements for a short period of time.
