Meth Rehab Center in California Serves A Growing Need

Methamphetamine is not a glamorous drug. It’s been around much longer than most people realize and was widely used by soldiers in World War Two. In more recent times, Chrystal Meth has become a well known drug, but its use has been stereotypically associated with states like Texas, not California. When you think of California, cocaine abuse treatment centers or alcohol rehab clinics are what usually come to mind; drugs that are synonymous with the high flying entertainment business. But behind the scenes, Crystal Meth has invaded virtually every state in the US, to the point where it’s not at all uncommon to find a meth rehab center in California.

Rehab Center

In case you’re wondering how I know so much about drug culture, it’s because I work with a youth outreach program that tries to get addicted kids off the streets and off the drugs that are ruining their lives. I’ve been to virtually every heroin rehab center and drug rehab program in Los Angeles and I can tell you, it’s not a pretty sight. These people do good work, but when drug addiction takes over someone’s life, it is an uphill battle to beat it. Not every program is suitable for every patient, so I often turn to drug-rehab.org, an organization that helps connect those in need with a rehab program that meets their needs, when seeking out help for my clients. They track every one of the cocaine abuse treatment centers and other clinics (out of state as well as within California), and every drug rehab program in Los Angeles; counsellors can help match an addict to a specific program that holds the highest chance of success, given their individual circumstances and the program’s focus.

That’s my background, but what this is really about is the growing problem with Crystal Meth in California. No one knows when the drug first started to gain a foothold, but police, health workers and those of us in social services soon began to recognize the signs. When people first starting showing up who were obviously abusing some sort of narcotic and were drastically malnourished, some were mistakenly referred to a heroin rehab center. Of course, the mistake was quickly recognized and corrected, but the sheer volume of Methamphetamine addicts soon threatened to overwhelm the system. The drug was manufactured in basements and especially in rural areas (the smell often gives Meth labs away, so they tend to be isolated), but the ramshackle equipment and volatile ingredients soon became a major safety issue for fire fighter and police. Meth addicts often became sexually promiscuous, would stay awake for days on end exhibited terrible symptoms like picking at their own skin, twitching constantly, paranoia and suffered convulsions and heart attacks.

Today, one of the most important fronts in the battle to overcome the hold of Crystal Meth is the Meth rehab center in California, the facilities where those suffering from this terrible addiction receive the help they need to kick it and start their lives over.
